Bambu Lab's A series has always been the accessible entry point — open frame, easy to live with, quick to get printing. The catch was size. The A1 tops out at 256 x 256 x 256 mm, which is fine until the day you need something bigger and have to slice a model into pieces and glue it back together.
The Bambu Lab A2L fixes exactly that — and adds a second trick most buyers do not expect.
The headline: 105% more build volume
At 330 x 320 x 325 mm, the A2L gives you more than double the usable volume of a standard 256 mm-class machine. In practice that means:
- Helmets, masks and large cosplay props printed in one piece
- Full-size drone frames and RC bodies without splitting
- Architectural models and terrain at a usable scale
- Batch printing — fitting far more small parts on one plate per run
For anyone who has spent time designing seams and dowel pins just to fit a model on the bed, this is the feature that matters.
The surprise: it also cuts
This is the part that gets overlooked. The A2L supports a blade cutting module — swap the toolhead and the machine stops being a 3D printer and becomes a cutting plotter, similar in function to a Cricut or Silhouette.
With the blade module fitted, the A2L can cut:
- Vinyl and heat-transfer vinyl — stickers, decals, custom apparel
- Cardstock and paper — packaging prototypes, invitations, paper craft
- Adhesive films and label stock — product labels, signage
- Thin flexible materials — templates, stencils, masking
Because the cutting area follows the same generous bed, you are cutting across a far wider sheet than most desktop craft cutters allow. And there is a pen plotting module too — useful for drawing, calligraphy, and marking cut lines before you commit.
For a small business, this is the real argument for the A2L. One machine on one desk covers 3D printed parts, vinyl decals and printed labels — instead of buying a printer and a separate cutting plotter.

A2L vs A1 vs P2S: which one?
Choose the A1 (S$403) if your prints comfortably fit within 256 mm and you want the lowest entry price. It is still an excellent everyday machine.
Choose the A2L (S$549) if build size is your bottleneck, or if the cutting and plotting modules fit your work. You are paying roughly S$150 more than the A1 for double the volume — that is the cheapest large-format printing available from Bambu Lab.
Choose the P2S (S$825) if you need to print engineering materials. The A2L is open frame, which is ideal for PLA, PETG and TPU but not suited to ABS, ASA, PA or PC — those need the enclosed, heated chamber the P Series provides.
Put simply: the A2L is about size and versatility, the P2S is about materials. Decide which constraint you are actually hitting.
What the A2L is not
Being honest about the trade-offs:
- No enclosure — warping-prone materials like ABS and ASA are not a good fit
- Larger footprint — make sure you have the desk space before ordering
- Bigger prints take longer — a full-plate print on the A2L is a serious time commitment
- Modules are sold separately — the blade cutter and pen plotter are add-ons, not in the box
If you print mostly small functional parts in PLA and have no interest in cutting, the A1 remains the better value. The A2L earns its price if you need the volume, the versatility, or both.
Single or Combo?
The A2L Only (S$549) prints a single colour. The A2L Combo (S$714) adds the AMS unit for up to four colours and automatic material switching.
The AMS costs S$165 more as part of the Combo. Buying it separately later costs considerably more, so if there is any chance you will want multi-colour, the Combo is the better buy up front.
